April 2008 — "These guys really do their best to accommodate local artists, especially when it comes to booking a theatre for a screening. My friends and I called around to all the theatres in Calgary, looking for a space that would a) hold enough people and b) have the right price point, and the Uptown was the leader in both respects. Furthermore, they allowed us to do little things, like actually come in early for a technical rehearsal and set up info booths throughout the mezzanine area. Good on ya Uptown, for contributing to Calgary's Indie-Movie scene."

Showing first-run films that tend towards art and international film, the Uptown Stage & Screen is a Calgary landmark. The theatre itself consists of two spaces - a 474-seat theatre and a 354 seat theatre. The Uptown displays fine art deco architecture in the heart of downtown Calgary.
