November 2008 — "I've been to Chinook theatre several times and would say it's not my favourite movie theatre in Calgary. Everything at the theatre is expensive. The movie tickets are pricey as well as the items at the concession. Also if you want something from the concession, arrive early. The line ups are always long and move very slowly. However, all that aside the actual movie theatres aren't that bad. The auditoriums hold a good amount of people and the seats are comfy and are raised to a level where it's easy for everyone to see. But, if you want to enjoy what Chinook theatre has to offer you must be prepared to pay top prices. "

July 2008 — "I don't care who it upsets. Watching a film like the Dark Knight on IMAX is an overrated experience.
Yes, the 70 foot frame was pretty cool, but the fact is the projector is so large that from where I was sitting, it actually diffused the image. In otherwords the frame looked washed out, because of the amount of light the projector emits.
It's not so bad with nighttime visuals, but for scenes that take place in the daytime, it's distracting. My friends and I literally thought our glasses were dirty, because of the projector.
Save the extra four dollars it costs to watch a movie in IMAX, watch it in a standard cinema, and use the money to buy yourself a pop."

May 2008 — "It's nice to go to a bigger theatre so you have your pick from a wider selection, however Paramount Chinook is just way too big. It is enormous and down right overwhelming. Everything is over sized, loud and flashy. Lines for food are unbelievably long, and even when they look short, it seems to take the employees forever to fulfill an order. The theatres themselves are comfortable, but the actual getting there (buying a ticket, snacks and finding the theatre) is just too stressfull."

October 2007 — "I have mixed feelings about this theatre. I always feel a little bit excited when going to the movies - I love the big screen and despite their obvious flaws, I like a good Hollywood flick every now and then. Paramount Chinook (I think it's called Scotia Bank Chinook now) ignites the same little movie-going thrill with its screeds of film offerings and garish decor, but at the same time stresses me out a tad. It's always really crowded, and although I think the new self-serve ticket machines in the foyer are a great idea, if you want any munchies you still have to queue for ages. As a general rule you have to get to the theatre well in advance of the film start time. The staff seem stressed too, and I don't blame them, in addition to the crowds I think the flashy lights, noisy arcade games and huge Egyptian characters looming from above would soon get to me as well."

July 2007 — "Every time I visit this theatre I think it will be better than the previous time, but it is not and I end up wanting to turn around and march right out. The horrible interior, ridiculously long line-ups combined with masses of people suck the fun out of going to see a movie. They have moved the box office to the other side of the escalators and two ticket machines sit in the box office's old location. I spent about 15 minutes behind a lady who did not know how to work the machine. Though it was frustrating I don't blame her, Paramount Chinook needs to have staff available to help with this problem. Besides that the freaky sculptures, weird light show and loud video games are too much for me...smaller, less populated theatres are the way to go."

Located at Chinook Centre, Calgary's largest mall, the Paramount Chinook features Egyptian-themed decor and contains 17 screens, party rooms and concession stands selling Pizza Hunt, TCBY, Burger King and Tim Horton's products. Science and nature films are played on the theatre's IMAX screen from time to time but the big screen is mostly used to show Hollywood blockbusters.
