The Stein Valley area is a spiritual sanctuary for aboriginal people. There are petroglyphs and pictographs to be found and the area is the last unlogged valley in southwestern British Columbia. The Stein Valley Nlaka'pamux Heritage Park is a First Nations land reserve and an official Heritage site jointly managed by the British Columbia government and the Lytton Indian Band. The Stein Heritage Trail is available for hikers but there are no services and they must be self-reliant. The hike is not recommended for children.
