Calgary Stampede Cutting Horse Futurity Presented by Wrangler
Oct 10 to Oct 14
Cutting horse competitions got their start in the Wild West, where a good cutting horse was invaluable to cowboys when they were chasing cattle and trying to separate certain individuals from the herd to vaccinate or brand. Now, cutting is one of the world’s fastest growing equine sports with competitions all over North America. In fact, the Calgary Stampede Cutting Horse Futurity presented by Wrangler is one of the highest profile events. From October 10 through 14 the top open and non-professional riders will be in Calgary with their horses in tow. The focus of the event are the Futurity classes – those limited to 3 year old horses – and includes high level competitions for all ages of horses as they advance through their training. It’s an exciting time as these equine athletes show their skills and riders compete for more than $300,000 in cash and awards.
