Completed in 1890, the Point San Luis Lighthouse was lit for the first time on June 30th, 1890, guiding whaling vessels, tankers, fishing boats and cargo ships around the treacherous point. The views from the lighthouse stretch from Avila to Vandenberg, and whales, sea lions and otters are often seen playing in the waves. Van and hiking tours are available.
