
Description
This glacial lake is the underwater home of Minnewanka Landing, a resort town that flooded in 1912 due to rising lake levels. Apart from cold-water scuba diving, visitors to Lake Minnewanka enjoy boating, sailing, and fishing while the surrounding area provides opportunities for hiking, picnicking, and camping.

This Dragon Boat Festival is held over two days in August and features over 500 participants racing across Lake Minnewanka. The festival includes free shuttles for both participants and the public, as well as cultural performances in the centre of Banff.

Banff regularly hosts visitors from across the continent and around the world and starting in 2010, the town also hosts beginner and professional athletes from throughout North America in this annual triathlon. Participants swim in Two Jack Lake, cycle the Minnewanka Loop and run through the centre of Banff for a spectacularly scenic triathlon.
