July 2008 — "The Kensington area is quite charming with several small boutiques worth browsing through. I also enjoy the eclectic vibe and ambiance of the area and how quickly you can walk to downtown from there. If you're not into shopping, Kensington is a great area for people watching. There are many interesting characters in the area!"

August 2007 — "I love strolling to Kensington on a sunny Sunday afternoon. It's a really attractive part of Calgary with historic buildings and lots of cafes from which to people-watch. Other features that draw me to the area are the small festival movie theatre and second-hand bookstore overflowing with books. If you wander past/through the heart of Kensington and continue on up the hill it's well worth it with lots of green grass at the top and a great view of downtown Calgary to admire from one of the park benches."

Kensington is one of Calgary's oldest areas and also one of its most popular. Street side cafes, specialty boutiques and an eclectic mix of people make it a favourite on the weekends. The district is located just north of the Bow River at 10th Street NW.

Kensington Sun & Salsa Festival

The Sun & Salsa festival gives Calgarians and visitors the chance to taste a variety of salsas created by restaurants in Kensington for the salsa tasting competition.
The streets of the inner-city neighbourhood fill with bands, vendors, dancers and more. Pub patios get packed with revelers out to enjoy the sunshine. While families and friends check out the food and fun atmosphere, they can also head to the Children's Carnival area for family orientated fun. Don't forget to also check out the King of Kensington Strongman Competition and the Miss Sun & Salsa Pageant.
