Van Cortlandt Park

The 1,146-acre (464-ha) Van Cortlandt Park is the fourth largest park in New York City and contains the country's oldest municipal golf course, the Bronx's oldest building (Van Cortlandt House, built in 1749), and the largest freshwater lake in the borough. The park also boasts the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail (a National Historic Landmark trail), and a renowned cross-country running course. Visitors can also enjoy numerous ball fields and courts, children's playgrounds, a nature center and the Riverdale Equestrian Center.
