October 2007 — "On my second visit to Fish Creek Park I decided I liked it. The first visit, by car, back in March left me thinking what a barren place it was, although I was quite excited to see gopher-like creatures for the first time! The second time we took the bikes and followed one of the trails from the carpark to the man-made lake. The park is huge with rather wide, sweeping landscapes. The golden grass is very pretty against the blue sky. The bike paths are almost all paved and in great condition, and passing over small bridges, detouring through trees to boggy marshes etc, made me realise it's a more diverse landscape than I originally thought. The trail was pretty easy and it made for a relaxing, enjoyable day out, although a little cold. The man-made lake was rather strange at this time of year - a dry expanse of sand with a tall jumping platform rising from the dust! Must be fun in summer. There are amenities here at the lake, like changing rooms and a cafe (which were closed), so I imagine it must be pretty crowded in the warmer months... I will definately check it out next summer."
