June 2008 — "This museum was a fascinating stop while in Banff. Not only did it have numerous displays of the region's native animals and birds - many of which visitors hear about but don't get to always see in the wild - it was also a step back in time and was like visiting a 1920s museum with some of the displays dating from the late 1880s. The multitude of animals was probably the most interesting part - we were visiting from England and many of North America's animals are unfamiliar so it was nice to see them up close and in life size. Western Canada's oldest natural history museum presents wildlife displays of the birds and mammals found in Banff National Park. The building itself, a designated Canadian historic site, illustrates an unusual style of architecture called railroad pagoda. Open year-round.

This annual event combines big hearts with big feet, and brings the whole community together for a great cause. The event premise is simple: men walk through downtown Banff in women's shoes, raising eyebrows and funds in support of YWCA Banff's activities to stop domestic violence.
