November 2006 — "I have to agree with Martha's review titled "So So". If you hit the right times, the Talisman Center is amazing: great location, modern equipment, cool architecture and wonderful views. However, on most days it's a struggle to find a piece of available cardio equipment. Their equipment sign-up system works fairly well, but some people forget to use it and others go past their "allotted" time. On a different note, but equally disappointing, their Preschool for Active Living program has been a mess this year. Staffing problems ie) they can't find and hold onto qualified employees, have translated into uncertainty re: activities, room use and instruction level. They've been somewhat proactive in resolving this issue, but not without causing much confusion and stress. I hope they can work it all out because I love their preschool concept. I haven't given up on Talisman Center yet -- because I USED to be a very happy member."

November 2006 — "The Talisman Centre is a large sports facility that is frequented by many people, from pro athletes to first-time gym goers. They have tracks, 3 large gyms, about 5 or 6 different pools, a big weight and cardio exercise facility and a lot more. I bought a membership so I could use the workout room and take advantage of the drop-in fitness classes. Their location is convenient for me, and I was told that there is always plenty of parking (which is completely not true -- you have to fight for a parking space if you come on a weekday evening). Their gym is okay -- they have lots of equipment, but it's so busy there, it's hard to find a machine that is free. They have a number of drop-in classes available, though few are in a time slot that fits my schedule (I work 8-5 Monday through Friday, like most people), as most of the classes are during the day. I go to the drop-in yoga classes about 2 or 3 times a week and at first I thought they were great, but now I am finding that they just do the same poses over and over again, even though there are 4 or 5 different instructors. I tried to go to a couple of the aquatic drop-in classes but when I got there, there was no class, and no sign saying it was cancelled or anything. They shouldn't advertise a class if they don't have it. When I first joined, I thought the Talisman Centre was the best place ever, but I find I am getting a little disillusioned (maybe the stress of fighting all the crowds is getting to me.) When my membership is up, I'm not sure if I will renew -- it's a great place to go on the weekends but I like to workout on weeknights too and it's getting to be too much of a hassle. "
