Classical GuitarFest West
A week of ‘guitar immersion’ in the Southern Alberta foothills, guaranteed to excite and inspire young guitar students and emerging classical guitar performers aged 13 and older with a minium Grade 4 RCM.
The program focuses on developing solo performance skills through private lessons and open masterclasses, preparing the student for a performance at week’s end. Students also have the opportunity to observe faculty performances in three evening concerts during the week.
The week’s activities include daily ensemble coaching and students are encouraged to register as groups. Students who do not have a working ensemble may request to be placed in a group. All groups will receive coaching on interpretation and presentation, and performances that are sufficiently prepared will be programmed on the student recital.
Other activities include; ‘Finger Aerobics’, ‘Yoga for the practise room’ and a Flamenco workshop. Classes developed to help us remember how to have fun while developing good skills.
No self-respecting Classical Guitarist will want to miss this. Yee-haw!
